Versatile tenor Gary Harger is equally at home with opera, operetta, musical theatre, and the concert stage. Operatic engagements have included such varied repertoire as Valletto in L'INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA at Dallas Opera, Andres in WOZZECK at the San Francisco Opera, Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI and Prologue/Peter Quint in THE TURN OF THE SCREW at Virginia Opera, and Nanki-Poo in THE MIKADO at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

In Europe, Mr. Harger has appeared as a soloist with The Wexford Festival (Ireland), The Holland Festival (Netherlands), sung the title role of CANDIDE at The Campidoglio in Rome, Italy - and has toured France, Germany, and Switzerland as Tony in The International Company of WEST SIDE STORY.

Mr. Harger made his Carnegie Hall debut as tenor soloist in Schubert's MASS IN G, and is always in demand for recital and orchestral engagements. In recent years, he has performed such works as Beethoven's MISSA SOLEMNIS with the Memphis Symphony, BERNSTEIN ON BROADWAY with the Charleston Symphony, and the DVORAK REQUIEM with the CONNECTICUT CHORAL SOCIETY.

A compelling stage presence, Gary Harger has received widespread critical acclaim as a leading man in such musical and operetta favorites as THE STUDENT PRINCE, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, DIE FLEDERMAUS, SHOWBOAT, BRIGADOON, THE SECRET GARDEN, MY FAIR LADY, GUYS AND DOLLS, COMPANY, and the Ken Hill production of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Mr. Harger was also featured in the first national tour of LES MISERABLES, appeared on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!, worked with the New York Shakespeare Festival - and on Broadway, he created the role of The Corporal in the Tony Award-winning SHENANDOAH.

Mr. Harger also teaches voice privately and has served on the faculty of The Hartt School and SCSU. He resides in southern Connecticut with his wife, Barbie and daughter, Shaylen. Together, the Hargers are very active in sacred music, pops concerts, cabaret, and the development of GWH Musical Productions Inc.

Last year, Mr. Harger was engaged with The Connecticut Opera for the double bill of IL TABARRO and I PAGLIACCI as Tinca and Beppe, and this spring he directed and starred in an evening of Broadway and opera at The Quick Center in Fairfield. Upcoming performances include Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI for Opera Theater of CT, and Eisenstein in DIE FLEDERMAUS for Connecticut Opera.
